After fifteen years climbing the corporate ladder at Harrods, Charlotte swaps London for a honey-coloured sweet shop in the Cotswolds. She has a strategy document, a five-year plan and every intention of making her new life a success.

Then thirty thousand bees arrive the day before she opens.

Fortunately, local beekeeper Tom Wakefield knows exactly what to do. With his easy smile, thirteen-year-old daughter and decidedly unhurried approach to life, Tom is everything Charlotte hasn’t planned for. But as Charlotte discovers, sometimes finding home means abandoning the plan and making room for the unexpected.

A film crew has arrived in Lower Thistlewick to bring Dimity Armstrong’s much-loved fantasy series Shadowlands to the screen—and the village is suddenly full of cameras, cables and strangers.

Then Harvey Cooper arrives to help his uncle Alf at the Swan. He brings two bags, no explanation and an easy way with people that makes him seem as though he has always belonged there.

Meanwhile, Dimity’s long hours with the production’s scriptwriter are troubling Vivian, Joanna and Hugh are planning their September wedding, and Charlotte begins to suspect that the biggest change of the summer may have nothing to do with Shadowlands at all.

It may have something to do with Harvey.
